You are looking at a long summer Saturday afternoon, and you want to create some memories with your children. What to do? The ages and number of kids you’ve got in tow will determine some of your choices. It’s always important to keep your children’s best interest in mind when planning your family outings… trying to be too optimistic about an all day hike with a three year old, for example, might just result in tears and a lot of back pain for you as you are carrying her down the mountain.
It’s important to keep in mind what is fun for all of you, but honestly you might have to “take one for the team” on this. In the end, remember that its spending quality time with your kids that counts, and focusing soley on them rather than what the actual activity is.
So what can you do? Well, there’s all kinds of things! Start by thinking about what makes your kids happy and go from there.
Active Kids: Short hikes (rock city), SF slides, playgrounds, batting practice, swimming, bike trips
Crafty Kids: Playdoh creations, painting, go to the craft store and get random materials to glue together!
Artsy Kids: Write a screenplay, act it out on your ipad,
Adventure Kids: Check out local museums or watch a play, go to the farmers market and make a new recipe!
